Dominic A. Munafo, M.D., DABSM
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Munafo is board certified in sleep medicine and internal medicine. He has more than 25 years of experience diagnosing and treating patients with sleep-disordered breathing. Dr. Munafo received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Baylor and spent additional time researching the cardiovascular consequences of sleep-disordered breathing. He completed a four-year pulmonary/critical care fellowship at the University of California San Diego, and joined the institution’s faculty in 1993 as an assistant professor. In 1995, he entered a pulmonary/critical care and sleep private practice in North County San Diego and worked there until becoming Sleep Data’s medical director in June 2000.
Dave was named CEO of Sleep Data in August 2011. He is an industry expert who has years of experience guiding businesses through high growth and transitional periods. Prior to joining Sleep Data, Dave co-founded and served as president and CEO of Star Medical, a national durable medical equipment provider specializing in the respiratory therapy products. He then co-founded Rock Island Capital, a Midwest-based private equity fund, which he continues to serve as an operating advisor.
Dave is a graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia with a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in accounting. He started his career in the audit and tax departments of Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) and is a former Certified Public Accountant.
COO / CTO
Tay oversees the rollout of new technology and guides organizational growth and development. He is an experienced technology entrepreneur and strategist. Previously, he was a co-founder of DivX, a San Diego-based Internet media company that he helped guide to a successful NASDAQ Initial Public Offering in 2007. During his tenure at DivX, one of his primary responsibilities was serving as vice president of operations, shepherding the company’s growth from a handful of employees to several hundred. Tay joined Sleep Data in January 2011.
Bretton Hevener, B.S., RPSGT
Bretton has been instrumental in streamlining Sleep Data’s operations. She began her career at the National Jewish Medical and Research Sleep Center and the University of Colorado’s Children’s Hospital Sleep Center in Denver, Colorado as a sleep technologist. In 2005, she transitioned from the clinical side of sleep medicine to operations. At her former company, Pacific Sleep, Bretton had direct involvement and oversight responsibilities for the sleep labs, clinical trials, and DME fulfillment. She has 10 years of experience in sleep medicine. During that time she has directly administered thousands of sleep studies as a clinician and thousands more in an oversight capacity as general manager. Bretton joined Sleep Data in August 2010.
