Dave was named CEO of Sleep Data in August 2011. He is an industry expert who has years of experience guiding businesses through high growth and transitional periods. Prior to joining Sleep Data, Dave co-founded and served as president and CEO of Star Medical, a national durable medical equipment provider specializing in the respiratory therapy products. He then co-founded Rock Island Capital, a Midwest-based private equity fund, which he continues to serve as an operating advisor. Dave is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a bachelor of science in business administration. He started his career in the audit and tax departments of Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) and is a former Certified Public Accountant. DOMINIC MUNAFO, M.D., ABIM DIPLOMATE, SLEEP MEDICINE
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Munafo is board certified in sleep medicine and internal medicine. He has more than 25 years of experience diagnosing and treating patients with sleep-disordered breathing. Dr. Munafo received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Baylor and spent additional time researching the cardiovascular consequences of sleep-disordered breathing. He completed a four-year pulmonary/critical care fellowship at the University of California San Diego, and joined the institution’s faculty in 1993 as an assistant professor. In 1995, he entered a pulmonary/critical care and sleep private practice in North County San Diego and worked there until becoming Sleep Data’s medical director in June 2000.
BRETTON HEVENER, RPSGT
Bretton has been instrumental in streamlining Sleep Data’s operations and has over 15 years experience in sleep medicine. She began her career at the National Jewish Medical and Research Sleep Center and the University of Colorado’s Children’s Hospital Sleep Center in Denver, Colorado as a sleep technologist. In 2005, she transitioned from the clinical side of sleep medicine to operations. At her former company, Pacific Sleep, Bretton had direct involvement and oversight responsibilities for the sleep labs, clinical trials, and DME fulfillment. She has directly administered thousands of sleep studies as a clinician and thousands more in an oversight capacity as general manager. At Sleep Data she has woven her experiences together to focus on improving patient outcomes and providing metrics to customers.
SAM CLARK, M.D., ABIM DIPLOMATE, SLEEP MEDICINE
Dr. Clark is board certified in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care. Upon earning his M.D. from Vanderbilt School of Medicine, he developed interest in sleep medicine during his residency training at the University of California San Diego. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in pulmonary-critical care at UCSD. Dr. Clark entered private practice in 1999, and joined the Sleep Data team in 2009 where he's served as Medical Director since 2014. With over 20 years experience diagnosing and treating sleep related breathing disorders, Dr. Clark shows a commitment to quality patient experiences, positive outcomes, and improving the lives of patients with sleep apnea.
DEREK LOEWY PH.D., D.ABSM, CBSM
Dr. Loewy has worked within sleep medicine for over 25 years, including extensive involvement in sleep research, consulting with the sleep industry, and practicing clinical sleep medicine. As current Director of Behavioral Sleep Medicine at the Scripps Clinic Sleep Center, Dr. Loewy worked closely with sleep-challenged patients to overcome a wide range of disorders. Dr. Loewy contributed his knowledge and expertise to numerous internationally-recognized sleep institutes, completing his doctoral degree in Canada at the University of Ottawa in 1996, his research fellowship at the University of Arizona in 1999, and his sleep medicine fellowship at the Stanford Sleep Disorders Center in 2001. A licensed clinical psychologist, board certified sleep specialist, and behavioral sleep specialist, Dr. Loewy proudly co-founded the Stanford Insomnia Program, which has served thousands of patients since inception.
DAVE PARENTEAU, RPSGT
Vice President of Operations
Dave developed his interest in sleep medicine and research in 1997 while at the University of Arizona. He began his clinical career in sleep medicine as a sleep technologist with Pacific Sleep Medicine, where over the course of twelve years he ultimately became a director of sleep lab operations, clinical trials, and a DME business treating sleep apnea patients. In 2010, he joined the team at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, where he oversaw accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for the Scripps Clinic Viterbi Family Sleep Center and their out of center sleep testing program. In 2013 Dave joined Sleep Data as General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations. Dave continues to serve in that capacity as Vice President of Operations.
BILLY HEVENER, RPSGT
Clinical Initiatives Manger
Billy began his clinical career at Pacific Sleep Medicine in 2003, receiving his RPSGT credential in 2005. He became a Regional Manager in 2007 overseeing multiple sites for Pacific Sleep throughout Southern California. Billy has a passion for public speaking and sleep disordered breathing education. As a patient advocate he enjoys tackling complex patient issues surrounding therapies and modalities. Dr. Munafo asked Billy to join Sleep Data in 2013 to manage and train clinical staff, and supervise his clinical vision. Through data based decision making, he’s been able to implement strategies that drive improved therapy compliance and patient care. Billy also participates in the direction and coordination of obstructive sleep apnea research protocols.
Patient Services Manager
Chanda joined Sleep Data in 2014 as Patient Services Manager. She has over 21 years of customer service experience, over 10 years of working in the DME (Durable Medical Equipment) field, and over 13 years experience working in patient care. Chanda says the best part of her job is ensuring that from diagnosis throughout treatment our patients are provided with an excellent patient service experience. She's also proud to work with a team of individuals who truly care about patient outcomes one patient at a time.
Continued Care and Warehouse Manager
A decorated Desert Storm Veteran, John began his career in the DME (Durable Medical Equipment) field at Option One Home Medical in 1996—giving him over 20 years of experience. Due to his hard work he was soon promoted to the position of Operations Manager. He joined Lifecare Solutions in 2007 where he supervised the continued care and resupply programs. John came on board with Sleep Data in 2011 to establish our resupply program. He has been instrumental in the success of our continued care and warehouse operations.
JULIE GOLICH, SHRM-CP, PHR-CA
Human Resources Manager
Julie joined Sleep Data in 2012. She has over 20 years of experience in the field of Human Resource Management. She has extensive hands-on experience leading HR initiatives including employee relations, performance management, recruiting, benefit administration, compliance and training. Most of her career has been spent working with small to mid sized organizations in industries such as healthcare, high tech and construction. Her main focus at Sleep Data continues to be recruiting and retention as the business grows. Julie holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Organizational Communication and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire in addition to her professional
